Nicole Guberman has been recognized for her “gorgeous lyric soprano,” “spinning top register,” and “fluid musicality.”
In the 2019 season pre-pandemic, Nicole debuted as Frasquita in Andrea DelGiudice's award-winning, readaptation of Bizet's CARMEN at the
Teatro Comunale Giuseppe Manini in Narni, Italy, under the baton of Maestro Giovanni Pacor. In New York City Nicole appeared with the New York City Opera Chorus, as Anna in a staged duet scena from Donizetti’s ANNA BOLENA and as Soprano Swing (Fox, Mrs. Paskova, Hen) in
Janacek’s PŘÍHODY LIŠKY BYSTROUŠKY with dell’Arte Opera Ensemble at LaMama Experimental Theater, Kate Pinkerton in Puccini’s MADAMA BUTTERFLY with New York Opera Collaborative, Vespetta in Telemann’s PIMPINONE with Apollo Opera, in concert as
Cleopatra in Handel’s GIULIO CESARE with operamission, Zelmire in Gluck's DER BETROGENE KADI with NY Lyric Opera, and with NYC’s Opera on Tap.
Her diversity of repertoire and musical intelligence has extended to both baroque and contemporary styles: as the title role in
Blow’s VENUS AND ADONIS with Cornish Opera Theater, Night in Purcell’s THE FAIRY QUEEN and Hebé in Rameau’s LES INDES GALANTES with Amherst Early Music Festival Opera, and in concert with New York Continuo Collective. In 2012 and 2013 she premiered new music by living American composers in Seattle and New Jersey.
Nicole holds a Bachelor of Music degree in Vocal Performance, magna cum laude from the Ithaca College School of Music where she was the recipient
of the Robert Boothroyd and Alice F. Berman Scholarships for music performance as well as awards from the National Association of Teachers of Singing. She heavily pursued her interest in baroque opera and chamber music, earning an Artist Diploma in Early Music from Cornish College in Seattle,
before expanding into the Italian and French Bel Canto operatic repertory. With Ithaca College Opera she performed La Fée (Fairy Godmother) in Pauline Viardot-Garcia’s CENDRILLON. Nicole received further training through Ann Baltz’s ground-breaking OperaWorks program and in the Sanford Meisner technique with the Actor’s Workshop of Ithaca.
In 2023 she relocated to Long Island in Long Beach, NY after a decade in New York City. After a pandemic hiatus, she has resumed private vocal teaching in the Long Beach area while also maintaining her now Long Island-based/online transformational coaching company, True Self Love LLC. She received formal vocal training from international dramatic soprano and director, Andrea DelGiudice, international teacher Neil Semer, baroque specialist soprano Nancy Zylstra, contemporary/new music specialist Patrice Pastore, and operatic soprano Nancy Froysland Hoerl.
